The
Sprinter, one of the most versatile vehicles in Europe, is available in
three primary passenger and cargo configurations and a wide range of variants.
It is used in a wide variety of commercial and recreational applications.
Challenge: Build a new plant close to the Mercedes-Benz assembly plant in Düsseldorf to supply passenger car-quality front and double-cabin doors. The doors are unusually tall, nearly two meters, making them particularly challenging to produce at the quality levels required by the customer.
Solution: Tower equipped the plant with the latest-technology robots that employ 1000-Hertz mid-frequency welding to weld door assemblies. This welding technique virtually eliminates fused-on spatters, greatly improving the quality of the assemblies.
