The
Grande Punto comes in three- and five-door versions and is one of the most popular B-segment cars in Europe.
It launched in October 2005 alongside the standard Punto model, which continues in production.
Challenge: Develop an integrated crash management system for the Grande Punto, incorporating specially engineered side rails and front and rear crash beams constructed of TRIP (transformation-induced plasticity) 800 high-strength steel, an advanced material that is difficult to stamp and form accurately.
Solution: Tower collaborated with Fiat to design, develop and manufacture the system using advanced assembly technologies, including a combination of roll forming and stretch bending technologies.
Products: In addition to the crash management system, Tower supplies suspension reinforcements and driveline brackets for this model. We supply similar components for Grande Punto production in Brazil.
