The
BMW 3-Series sets the standard for pure driving performance in its class. The BMW 1-Series (not available
in the U.S.) is smaller than the 3-Series and includes a five-door hatchback sports sedan.
Challenge: Supply underbody stampings made of ultra-high strength TRIP (transformation-induced plasticity) 800 steel, which is difficult to stamp and form accurately.
Solution: Tower Automotive met this challenge by designing and manufacturing special tooling for these components, which we form in the largest and most modern transfer press of any tier one supplier in Europe. Tower's solution takes power, capacity and press force to new levels.
